Weight loss with Raw mango juice (Panna) Raw mango contains Vitamin A, C, B, iron, calcium, and magnesium. The magnesium helps in losing weight and is an immunity booster. The acid in the mango is good for digestion and good to relieve constipation which ultimately helps in losing weight. By drinking raw mango juice in this summer apart from other health benefits like curing scurvy, loss of weight can be achieved by the energizing property of the raw mango. A piece of raw mango or a glass of raw mango juice after lunch will prevent the afternoon sleepiness which makes one put on weight. The vitamin C in raw mangoes makes the blood vessel flexible, remove cholesterol and detoxes. It also balances the bacteria and removes inflammation in the large intestine. Raw mango has more antioxidant properties which clears the toxins in the body and makes one slim and trim. Diabetics will also lose weight with raw mango juice. As a Sujok therapist I understand obesity is lacking in the wood element and having more of earth element. The deficiency of wood element is covered up by eating or drinking raw mango juice. This mango as a representative of the wood element penetrates the earth element results in burning fat. I work on increasing the wood element and reducing earth element by putting needles, magnets, seeds or colour on certain acupoints, also aiding in weight loss. In other words increasing wind energy or decreasing the humidity energy helps in removing the laziness from the body of the thyroid patients too.

BRIGHT EYES AND DIVINE SMILES Each year the birth anniversary Prof. Park Jae Woo the originator of sujok therapy is celebrated with reverence. Sujok therapists all over the world pay their homage to their guru by holding free sujok medical camps, awareness workshops and introductory classes. Our master devoted his full life to develop this science. Sujok is acupressure , acupuncture, color therapy, magnet therapy, twist therapy, exercises like Sam Won Dong and Sam Von Gong, meditation, direction therapy, time acupuncture, palm leaf therapy, seed therapy etc. His scientific works include homo system of body correspondence, six ki therapy, eight origin theory, diamond energy, tri-origin theory, m-particle theory, smile yoga and many more. He has explained the oriental wisdom in terms of modern science. He was a visionary par excellence. My whole day introductory training in Sujok at the “Hyderabad Children Aid Society” was in reality a blessing to me and my therapists. The students at the orphanage were so receptive to the course and to us is unmatched . The children learnt the techniques of Sujok with great ease. I am sure they will be able to tackle initially small problems like back ache, headache, eye problems and so on with hand of a healer. The little children knew that they would not get certificates like their elder sisters who are above 10th grade. It is amazing to recollect, and gives me goose bumps to write that class 2 children could remember and tell us about pressure points with amazing ease. I am thankful to Ms. Jeny Gupta (Secretary) and the caretakers who have only love for the children in their heart. The Hyderabad Children's Aid Society at Nanalnagar, Hyderabad is a temple of love and affection. Not just as a human being but as healer I must comment that the children look very healthy, happy and intelligent. It was just amazing to see very few may be 3 to 4 in whole gathering of children we saw needed spectacles. I must write here that good eyes are due to healthy body organs especially liver. The healthy and balanced diet, good rules and regulations, open atmosphere, not much contact with cell phones and television sets and no junk food are some of good habits to be practiced. Talking of the eyes, it is advisable that we look away from the computer screen in intervals to some other direction for a minute or two. The fixed gaze at the computer screen or children playing video games can cause myopia (short sightedness) and amblyopia ( lazy eye ) Healthy eating keeps the liver in good shape and ultimately the eyes remain healthier.

COLD SEASON If an individual is deficient in body heat he will not be able to defend himself from the cold or infections. When your body, specially extremities are cold the circulation of blood is deficient. For such people warm clothing, as well as covering the feet is very important. Warm and well cooked food should be taken. As the digestion becomes poor because of deficient heat, foods which are easily digestable should be consumed. Stool could have undigested food particles or loose which is an indication that the kind of food he or she is taking has to change, could avoid raw food specially in the nights. People with cold energy have a tendency to withdraw and be less communicative. Here they can tell their family intervene and help by involving them in discussions. Many time we have heard people saying that their blood pressure increased after a heated discussion. Tongue and pulse being pale and slow is also an indication of cold will. Such people start loosing identity or even friends and work. Exercise would help build heat energy. Jogging, running, physical activity will all help. Parents of such children should be careful that nobody bullies them as cold weather is equivalent to fear or emotional level will be more and the child will further deteriorate physically as well as mentally. Old people normally in the age bracket of 60 years and ahead have a lot of coldness within them, so the cold weather effects them the most. They should be given warm food, should stay more in warm room or wear enough of woollens. In no circumstances they should sit out in the open at night. Feet should always be kept warm. Soak themselves in sun during the day. Sleep early and get up after sun rises, specially for people who have a tendency to catch cold during winters. To be more fertile the couple must sleep well. They must feel fresh when they wake up. This will strengthen their chances of conceiving. Cold foods, frozen meats, preserved and stale food should be strictly avoided by everyone. You will not be surprised at catching cold after a horror film ! Rest more! Get plenty of sleep. Try to eat 5 small meals rather than 3 big meals. Ginger water is good for cold weather. Sujok Acupuncture helps to move the energies in the body, push the cold away by bringing warmth or heat energy inside. Moxibustion over appropriate acupuncture points will help a lot by introducing heat to the right points. Warm baths and warm friends are a good option too. This treatment will bring a glow to otherwise pale faces. If there is phlegm in the body with cold symptoms, then it is very important to take professional help and remove them. Cold energy is equivalent to wisdom mentally just as it is similar to fear emotionally. So fear should be used as wisdom just like in Russia, because of too much cold, where for months there's no vegetation so people started preserving food. This is a sign of wisdom. Similarly in this winter season we should live life with wisdom, careful adding warmth through desire and sunlight, warm clothing, warm soups, dry fruits instead of too much fresh and raw vegetables and fruits.

WINTER SKIN Keeping the skin healthy in winter is a skill which everybody would love to learn. Skin is the largest organ and its care is not just from outside but more from inside out. The skin becomes dry due to external causes but it is also being affected due to the internal environment. An individual must improve his immunity to decrease body's sensitivity to cold. Among the internal organs which can look after the skin specifically are the lungs and the large intestine. Hence exercise during the winter months is very important. Breathing exercise, playing in the sun if possible, jogging, running and physical exercise would move the Qi or Chi or Energy of the lungs. Blood stagnation will also clear and along with the Qi blood flow will improve and make the skin shiny and clear. Large intestine is another organ which has a see-saw balance between the lungs. Hence in cold attacks the constipation is inevitable. This has to be tackled by Sujok Acupuncture, seed or magnets or colour therapy. Drinking enough water consciously is very important as thirst condition is not there in winter months. **Oil could be added to bath water and applied to skin directly.**The toxins are removed from the skin by keeping our lungs and large intestine in good condition which relieves us of itchy and red skin. Cleaning skin with mild soap is very important two to three times a day including before sleeping. Clearing skin, scrubbing with mild scrubbing agents is important to remove dead skin and opening pores. This also improves the circulation of blood and Qi to that area, the meridian in that area gets activated and body is sparkling and shiny. Olive oil, coconut oil, mustard oil etc massage also improves the blood flow. As an acupuncturist we can help you and identify the areas to be massaged for the particular skin issue. Herbs and Foods for the Skin Chandan or haldi mixed with lemon can be applied for itchy skin for about 20 minutes. Application of aloe vera pulp is good for the skin. Eating aloe vera improves the health of the large intestine. Drinking tulsi or basil tea is therapeutic in winter months. Equal quantities of glycerin, rose water, and lemon juice can be applied for about 20 minutes. Kesar mixed with olive oil or almond oil can be put on the skin, also kesar mixed with food preparation will help in clearing blemishes of the skin. Carrot juice can be directly apply to the skin. Intake of carrot every day which is readily available is great practice in winter. Fish, avocados, walnuts, sweet potatoes, red and yellow bell peppers, sunflower seeds, broccoli, tomatoes are some of the skin friendly foods to survive the winter months. Please live in harmony with the nature, relax a little more in the hustle and bustle of life, keep yourself warm and well rested. This would rejuvenate you for the new year and give it a springy start. Meditation is a great way to take time of and a profound opportunity for internal insight and deep introspection, unfold and step away and calm your mind. This holistic approach of mind and heart medicine will make your skin glow.

@ DROPPING TEMPERATURE A fall in the temperature of even one-degree centigrade can lead to many health problems. As the body becomes cold in the winter season, the blood vessels constrict forcing the water out. This makes the blood thicker, which may develop clots and increase the risk of heart problems. People who have weaker lungs may develop emphysema, bronchitis and asthma. Lower back pain, knee pains and other joint pains develop specially for people having arthritis. The problem of frequent urination or urinary retention, fatigue, vertigo, anxiety, fear, high blood pressure and headaches are also usually seen. Dressing properly is very important to keep the body warm, by covering the neck and shoulder with the scarf especially for very young and old people will prevent them from catching a cold. The cold energy enters through the foot. It is important to wear socks which are right for the particular temperature. Encouraging manual workers this Christmas to wear socks and shoes will take a long way in improving the health of our world health. The amount of heat that you can lose through your head also depends on how thick your hair is. Older people with scanty hair must wear hat or woollen cap or muffler. Women usually feel colder than men. It’s a good idea to wear clothes in layers which allows adjusting the body temperature during night and day temperature or in different levels of activities. Washing the hands in winters is important as cold, cough, sneezing etc, transmits germs when we touch the eyes, nose and mouth. Taking shower with very hot water will open the pores of the skin which will let the warm energy out. Hence warm water is a better option. We have to live in harmony with the seasons. For this, we have to change our habits so that there is a balance between the body and environment. A mindful living will make life easy and happy. It would be a great idea to wake up as the sun rises, sit in the sun for some time if possible, and eat the fruits and vegetables which are grown in the winter season and also the food of your native land which is constitutionally good for you. These keep the immune system strong and keep away the diseases. Food can be cooked on slow fire with less water. Keeping healthy in winters will keep the youthfulness intact and prevent ageing. In winters especially reduce the quantity of salt. Drink sufficient water, avoid horror films if you have a tendency to catch a cold (fear is coldness energy) try to keep away from stressful situations. Do check what your child is watching, eating, wearing, sleeping and waking up time can be monitored too. In the winter month or in old age which is the winter of life, the bodies begin to dry. The hair and bones become brittle and the skin becomes rigid just like mind which also becomes inflexible dry and cold. Many times older people are fixed with their ideas, this is because of the coldness and dryness energy. If you want them to change this Christmas the younger children and young people must rub their heat and loving energy with their parents and grandparents. See the happiness in their lives and your own. All red fruits and root vegetables, cabbage ect., will bring heat and keep away the cold. So depending on your body type you can balance and maintain your body temperature. Citrus fruits, nuts, dry fruits, strawberries, black beans, kidney beans, walnuts, sesame seeds, red chillies, ginger tea, onions, turmeric and mustard oil, and most dark colour foods will nourish the body in the winter season. Drinking excess alcohol causes the blood vessels to widen due to which the body heat is lost faster. This festival do check your glasses. Animals hibernate in winters. For human beings also it is important to take more rest, sleep well, and reduce long working hours. A good time to meditate, look inwards and connect to our inner soul, relaxing the mind and calming the emotions. Ears are the organs which get affected in winters. Among the body parts, the bones get more affected. People who take non-vegetarian food can consume bone soup. Some people enjoy the winters, they have a deficiency of coldness energy in them. Such people can receive energy during the winter season. They can actually walk barefoot on the grass or the earth. On the other hand, there are people who do not feel healthy during winters, so they have to follow the above regimes thereby harmonizing their bodies. Fear is the main emotion of winters. Wisdom is the mental energy which is also associated with a cold. There is a thin line between fear and wisdom. Old age is the age of wisdom.

NOSE BLEEDING Nasal bleeding in children can be alarming but mostly it is not as serious a condition as it looks, if it happens without any injury in summers. *tilt the child's head slightly forward so that the blood does not flow into the throat. *cotton cloth could be held under the nose to collect the blood. *soft portion of the nose can be squeezed shut and ask the patient to breath from the mouth. *ice pack can be put on the forehead and bridge of the nose to constrict and repair the blood vessels. Indian food and herbs *Gulukand *amla powder or amla in any form *drops of cow ghee in the nostril or apply the ghee to the lining of the nostrils *green vegetables *bel fruit (wood apple), mint - coriander infused water, mishri water(rock sugar), Life style *Swimming keeps the body cool and hydrated *Avoiding strenuous exercises is better as not to overheat the body *summer time avoid spicy and greasy food *red meat can also be taken sparingly *salads are cooling The nasal lining of the nose is lined with tiny blood capillaries, due to the dry air in the summer season the fragile lining breaks, and the nose bleeds. Dry heat creates this problem hence the house could be humidified with few green plants indoors. Nose is the openings of the lungs, we have to diagnose if there is excess of heat energy in the lungs. The child could be suffering from sinusitis, dry cough, burning in the nasal passage or fever. Lungs and large intestine have a see-saw balance. Problem of the nose could be also related to heated stomach and large intestine. Heated stomach which gives nose bleeding is due to constipation and the signs could be bad breath, dry mouth, swollen gums, extreme thirst and scanty urination. Nose bleeding with heated liver also gives headaches, red eyes and bitter taste in the mouth. Red and thickly coated yellowish tongue. Nose bleeding with heat in the kidney will have warm palms and soles such a person should drink more water. Girls could have nose bleeding in sync with their menstrual cycles in the summers. One of the reasons is the blood flowing in reverse direction. Boils in the nose are also a inflammation due to dry air that we breathe in. Sujok aims to clear the body of excess heat, hydrate the nasal lining and protect the tiny blood vessels in the nose to avoid nasal bleeding. The air in summer is dry.
