    Sujok ..the way forward Thank you Deccan chronicle news paper for covering us so beautifully. We are so grateful to you for making the citizens of Hyderabad aware of this precious science. It’s a tribute to my Guru Prof. Park Jae woo and all the Sujok therapists globally who are working for a smile civilization. A world where drugs would be less, hospitals would not flood with patients for whom doctors cannot have the time, not because of their fault but because of the volume of patients. There are big and small health problems which can be solved by consciousness alone. Consciousness about the energy which is also called prana or chi. We can activate our own prana (energy or chi) by good thoughts, wearing certain colors, applying pressure, putting seeds in certain acu points, acupuncture, taping micro magnets to the hands or foot. Energy flows in our body in meridians or nadis and the whole body can be treated by sujok therapy on hands and foot alone. We can balance our energy , chakras, and the energy network from here only. It is the theory of sujok that our hand and foot are very similar to the human body and hence they understand it. By treating the hands and foot we can treat the human body. Pain balls are created by nature in hands and foot if a disease occurs, which are broken by sujok modalities for cure and avoid a lot of medicines and surgeries. Stretching and pressing the body correctly will improve the body health. Techniques of acupuncture, acupressure are being practiced as healing methods for thousands of years , in those days too there were scientists but they did not have computers to copy paste and make books to be read by a lot of people. Unfortunately it is understood as not documented and not scientific. Think of new ideas for a smiling body, mind and soul. Certain foods and herbs can be added in times of trouble which would work like medicine. At least the educated population should give time to think and talk with family and friends about the change and also help people who are not aware. Can we switch off our phones, television etc and simply laugh, remember beautiful moments , play indoor or outdoor games, enjoy simple activities like cleaning, cooking , gardening, singing, dancing, painting etc. Holding and pressing your grandparents, parents and loved ones hands and feet for a few minutes, will indirectly massage their whole body, which will give their health a great boost and happiness to your soul. .     WINTER SKIN Keeping the skin healthy in winter is a skill which everybody would love to learn. Skin is the largest organ and its care is not just from outside but more from inside out. The skin becomes dry due to external causes but it is also being affected due to the internal environment. An individual must improve his immunity to decrease body's sensitivity to cold. Among the internal organs which can look after the skin specifically are the lungs and the large intestine. Hence exercise during the winter months is very important. Breathing exercise, playing in the sun if possible, jogging, running and physical exercise would move the Qi or Chi or Energy of the lungs. Blood stagnation will also clear and along with the Qi blood flow will improve and make the skin shiny and clear. Large intestine is another organ which has a see-saw balance between the lungs. Hence in cold attacks the constipation is inevitable. This has to be tackled by Sujok Acupuncture, seed or magnets or colour therapy. Drinking enough water consciously is very important as thirst condition is not there in winter months. **Oil could be added to bath water and applied to skin directly.**The toxins are removed from the skin by keeping our lungs and large intestine in good condition which relieves us of itchy and red skin. Cleaning skin with mild soap is very important two to three times a day including before sleeping. Clearing skin, scrubbing with mild scrubbing agents is important to remove dead skin and opening pores. This also improves the circulation of blood and Qi to that area, the meridian in that area gets activated and body is sparkling and shiny. Olive oil, coconut oil, mustard oil etc massage also improves the blood flow. As an acupuncturist we can help you and identify the areas to be massaged for the particular skin issue. Herbs and Foods for the Skin Chandan or haldi mixed with lemon can be applied for itchy skin for about 20 minutes. Application of aloe vera pulp is good for the skin. Eating aloe vera improves the health of the large intestine. Drinking tulsi or basil tea is therapeutic in winter months. Equal quantities of glycerin, rose water, and lemon juice can be applied for about 20 minutes. Kesar mixed with olive oil or almond oil can be put on the skin, also kesar mixed with food preparation will help in clearing blemishes of the skin. Carrot juice can be directly apply to the skin. Intake of carrot every day which is readily available is great practice in winter. Fish, avocados, walnuts, sweet potatoes, red and yellow bell peppers, sunflower seeds, broccoli, tomatoes are some of the skin friendly foods to survive the winter months. Please live in harmony with the nature, relax a little more in the hustle and bustle of life, keep yourself warm and well rested. This would rejuvenate you for the new year and give it a springy start. Meditation is a great way to take time of and a profound opportunity for internal insight and deep introspection, unfold and step away and calm your mind.     BRIGHT EYES AND DIVINE SMILES Each year the birth anniversary Prof. Park Jae Woo the originator of sujok therapy is celebrated with reverence. Sujok therapists all over the world pay their homage to their guru by holding free sujok medical camps, awareness workshops and introductory classes. Our master devoted his full life to develop this science. Sujok is acupressure , acupuncture, color therapy, magnet therapy, twist therapy, exercises like Sam Won Dong and Sam Von Gong, meditation, direction therapy, time acupuncture, palm leaf therapy, seed therapy etc. His scientific works include homo system of body correspondence, six ki therapy, eight origin theory, diamond energy, tri-origin theory, m-particle theory, smile yoga and many more. He has explained the oriental wisdom in terms of modern science. He was a visionary par excellence. My whole day introductory training in Sujok at the “Hyderabad Children Aid Society” was in reality a blessing to me and my therapists. The students at the orphanage were so receptive to the course and to us is unmatched . The children learnt the techniques of Sujok with great ease. I am sure they will be able to tackle initially small problems like back ache, headache, eye problems and so on with hand of a healer. The little children knew that they would not get certificates like their elder sisters who are above 10th grade. It is amazing to recollect, and gives me goose bumps to write that class 2 children could remember and tell us about pressure points with amazing ease. I am thankful to Ms. Jeny Gupta (Secretary) and the caretakers who have only love for the children in their heart. The Hyderabad Children's Aid Society at Nanalnagar, Hyderabad is a temple of love and affection. Not just as a human being but as healer I must comment that the children look very healthy, happy and intelligent. It was just amazing to see very few may be 3 to 4 in whole gathering of children we saw needed spectacles. I must write here that good eyes are due to healthy body organs especially liver. The healthy and balanced diet, good rules and regulations, open atmosphere, not much contact with cell phones and television sets and no junk food are some of good habits to be practiced. Talking of the eyes, it is advisable that we look away from the computer screen in intervals to some other direction for a minute or two. The fixed gaze at the computer screen or children playing video games can cause myopia (short sightedness) and amblyopia ( lazy eye ) Healthy eating keeps the liver in good shape and ultimately the eyes remain healthier.

    INSOMNIA AND SLEEPING PILLS should be the story of the past Through Sujok therapy we can balance the internal body clock called the Circadian cycle and cure insomnia. Depending on the cause of sleeplessness the treatment is given to the patient. This is understood as disbalanced energies in the meridians and treated by balancing them. Insomnia in Sujok can also be understood by triorigin theory. A lot of people suffer from sleepless nights followed by ill health, obesity, fatigue, job bunking, anger, depression, adrenal fatigue, unhappy relationships with spouse, children and associates and a sense of being unwell. Sleep is essential, which means if we do not sleep enough we will be unhealthy. Not just the number of hours but also the time that we go to sleep during night is important. Plants, animals and birds all follow a pattern of sleep which is in rhythm with the twenty four hour day cycle. This cycle is called circadian cycle. As we wake up at a particular time each day and expose our body to the sun light, the sun’s light hits the melatonin receptors in the skin and the eyes with which the body makes an hormone called cortisol. This cortisol surge gives the body the energy to go about with our daily work with enthusiasm. Similarly in the night when we stroll in the moonlight the cortisol levels drop. This makes us less active bodily and mentally and we feel sleepy, happy and relaxed. This means that to sleep we do not need to be charged. In preparation to sleep we have to start winding up few hours before the desired time to sleep. One must have a fixed time to sleep for himself to follow the circadian cycle. We can also start going inwards on a more aesthetic note. If we plan to wind up work slowly by evening, the important meetings which require us to be more charged can be in the morning or breakfast meetings, early dinners would wind up the home and bring the mind and body to rest. Moon has the quality to calm us in the nights, a stroll under the stars would calm our body and slowly put it to sleep. Vigorous exercises like gym at night or late evening would again charge the body and affect the circadian cycle. Calming activities with not too much light irritating the eyes would help restore the sleep cycle. Smart phones brightness should be reduced in the evening, so as not to make abnormal levels of cortisol hormones and give the feeling of day time to the brain. This extra level of cortisol also gives body pains and affects good sleep. Walk or exercise preferably barefoot with the rising of the sun.This would make us in tune with the natural world that we are part of. Stroll barefoot in the moonlight. Lie down to sleep with no light . Soft music could keep you in a concentrated meditative mood. Coffee is a strong stimulant, if u can’t avoid it please drink it before evening. Early dinner will stop further physical activity . The brain if used less and less will slow down and sleep.Try not to drink water late in the evening if visiting the bathroom disturbs the sleep at night. Now that we know the science and if we are sleep deprived that means our circadian cycle has got disturbed. This is what happens when we travel international and feel the jet lag.
